Fourth of July, the Pup-Approved Way
A Fireworks Reminder from Champ 🐾
Hey Champ’s friends—Champ here.
When it comes to Fourth of July, I’m all in on the snacks, sunshine, and those proud Made-in-the-USA vibes. But the pops, booms, and sky kabooms? Yeah…no thanks.
Loud fireworks might be fun for humans, but for dogs like me, they can be scary and confusing. Our hearing is way more sensitive than yours—like superhero-level sensitive—so those sudden noises can really stress us out.
But don’t worry! You don’t have to leave your pup out of the fun. There are plenty of ways to celebrate together—without all the noisy stuff. Think tasty treats, backyard games, and snuggles while the humans watch the big show indoors.
5 Ways to Celebrate with Your Pup — Noise-Free Edition:
-
Early bird gets the walk. Before the fireworks start, take your pup out for a peaceful morning stroll or splash around in a quiet spot. It’s the calm before the (firework) storm!
-
Make it a backyard campout. Set up your own starry-night adventure right in the yard. Bring blankets, pup treats, and a favorite chew toy. Bonus points if you share some shade for nap time during the day.
-
Host a dog-friendly BBQ. Throw a paw-ty with your pup’s best buddies. Serve up grilled chicken and endless belly rubs, plus some fun games like fetch or tug-of-war. Just watch those flames and trash cans!
-
Create a “pup cave.” When things get loud, give us a quiet hideout with soft blankets and toys. A cool fan or white noise can help drown out the booms and keep us calm.
-
Skip the s’mores! Those gooey marshmallows and chocolate treats are delicious for humans but dangerous for pups. Stick to Champ-approved healthy snacks instead. (I may know a guy… 😉)
Oh, and one more thing: Be sure to check that our tags are up to date (even for indoor dogs), and don’t forget the leash when heading out. Fireworks can turn any dog into an escape artist!
Stay safe, stay cool, and give your pup a scratch from me.
Happy Fourth!
